Consecutive re-raises following a 3-bet.
Action
A player's turn to act or the overall betting activity at a table.
All-in
Betting all your remaining chips.
Backdoor
A draw needing two specific consecutive cards on Turn and River to complete.
Bankroll
The total amount of money a player has set aside to play poker.
Bankroll Management (BRM)
Strict management of your poker funds to withstand variance.
Blinds
Forced bets made before cards are dealt (Small Blind and Big Blind).
Blocker
A card in your hand that makes it impossible or less likely for your opponent to have a specific hand.
Bluff

Board
The 5 community cards dealt face up in the middle of the table.
Board Texture

Bubble

Bumhunting

Button / Dealer
The best position at the table. Acts last on all postflop streets.
C-Bet (Continuation Bet)
A bet made on the flop by the player who was the last aggressor preflop.
Call
To match the highest bet made so far on the current street.
Capped Range
A range of hands that does not contain the strongest possible hands.
Cash Games
Games where chips directly represent real money and players can leave anytime.
Check
To pass the action without betting, valid only if no one has bet yet.
Check-Raise
Checking when it's your turn, and then raising after an opponent bets.
Clean Outs
Cards that make your hand the winner without giving the opponent a better hand.
Cold Call
Calling a raise when you haven't invested any chips in the pot yet.
Combos
The exact combinations of physical cards that make up a specific hand.

Donk Bet
A postflop bet made by a player out of position who didn't have the lead.
Downswing
A prolonged period of losing due to negative variance.
Draw
An incomplete hand that needs one or more cards to improve to a strong hand.
Effective Stack
The smaller stack size between two players involved in a pot.
Equity
Your 'rightful' share of the pot based on the probability of winning the hand.
Expected Value (EV)
The long-term average return of an action (bet, call, fold).
Exploitative
Deviating from optimal strategy to exploit a specific opponent's leak.
Floating
Calling a bet with a weak hand intending to bluff on a later street.
Flop
The first 3 community cards dealt simultaneously.
Fold
To throw away your cards and surrender the current pot.
Fold Equity
The additional equity gained by the possibility that your opponent will fold to your bet.
Freezeout
A tournament format that does not allow rebuys.
Frequencies
The exact percentage of times a strategy dictates an action.
GTO (Game Theory Optimal)
A mathematically perfect strategy that cannot be exploited by opponents.
Gutshot
An inside straight draw requiring 1 specific card rank to complete.
Hole Cards
The private cards dealt to each player at the start of the hand.
Implied Odds
The calculation of future chips you expect to win if you hit your draw.
Independent Chip Model (ICM)
A mathematical model to assign monetary value to tournament chips.
Isolation Raise
Raising preflop after limpers to play heads-up against a weak player.
ITM (In The Money)
The stage of a tournament where remaining players are guaranteed a payout.
Limp
Calling the Big Blind amount preflop instead of raising.
Linear Range
A range consisting of top-tier to mid-tier hands with no gaps.
Mixed Strategy
A GTO situation where two actions have the same EV, requiring randomization.
Muck
To hand your cards face down to the dealer when losing or folding.
Multi-Table Tournament (MTT)
A tournament where players compete until one wins all chips.
Node
Any specific decision point in a solver's game tree.
Open-Ended Straight Draw (OESD)
An outside straight draw that can be completed at both ends.
Outs
The unseen cards left in the deck that will improve your hand to a winner.
Overbet
A bet sized larger than the current pot.
Polarized Range
A range containing only very strong hands and pure bluffs.
Pot Odds
The ratio of the current size of the pot to the cost of a contemplated call.
Probe Bet
A Turn bet by an out-of-position player when the preflop raiser checks back the Flop.
Raise
To increase the size of the current bet at the table.
Raise First In (RFI)
The first preflop raise when all previous players folded.
Rake
The fee taken by the cardroom from a cash game pot or tournament entry.
Rakeback
A percentage of the rake refunded to the player as a reward.
Range
The total set of all possible hands a player could have given the action.
River
The fifth and final community card.
Showdown
The final phase where players reveal their cards to determine the winner.
Solver
Advanced software that calculates GTO strategy approximations.
SPR (Stack-to-Pot Ratio)
The ratio of the effective stack sizes to the size of the pot on the flop.
Squeeze
A large preflop 3-bet made after an open-raise and one or more callers.
Tilt
A state of emotional frustration that causes a player to make sub-optimal decisions.
Turn
The fourth community card.
Upswing
A prolonged period of winning above mathematical expectation.
Value Bet
A bet made with a strong hand, hoping to get called by a worse hand.
Variance
The statistical short-term difference between actual results and EV.
VPIP
Voluntarily Put Money in Pot. The percentage of hands a player chooses to play preflop.
